How to hide data from Whois

In many cases, personal data is not displayed in public Whois results. This can happen because of privacy laws, registry policy or a privacy service provided by the registrar.

Individuals often benefit from automatic redaction, while companies may still have some public information depending on the extension and jurisdiction.

Some registrars offer Whois privacy or proxy services. These services replace public contact data with generic or service-provider contacts, while keeping the real owner information in the registrar account.

Privacy does not remove ownership obligations. The registrant must still provide accurate data to the registrar and must be reachable through the channels required by the registry or registrar.
